Price and trial

How much does HeySnapMe cost?

US$19.99 once, for lifetime access and future updates for one person on up to two Macs. Right now, as a launch offer, new customers get 30 days free first: save your card to start the trial, and the US$19.99 is charged automatically, once, when the 30 days end. Cancel from your account before the payment date to pay nothing. The launch offer ends on 18 November 2026 at 23:59 UK time; after that, there is no free trial. There are no monthly or annual charges.

Can I get a refund after buying?

Yes. Every lifetime purchase has a 14-day money-back guarantee, separate from the 30-day free trial. Request a full refund within 14 days after purchase, even if you connected your Mac or used the app. No reason is required. After 14 days, purchases are not refundable, except where the law requires. See our refund policy for how to request one.

What happens when access expires?

HeySnapMe locks and shows one screen to sign in, buy or update your card. Your saved captures stay on your Mac as ordinary files, and that screen opens them in Finder. A recording or edit already open can finish and save.

Account and Macs

Do I need an account?

Yes. Sign in with Apple, Google or a code sent to your email to start your trial, buy lifetime access or manage your Macs. New trials start when card setup is confirmed. Existing trials keep their original dates and have no automatic payment.

Can I use HeySnapMe on two Macs?

Yes. Your account includes up to two connected Macs for your own use. Sign in to the app on each Mac. To add a third, remove one from your account first. The removed Mac loses access on its next online check or within seven days offline. Connecting another Mac does not restart your trial.

Which Macs does it run on?

Any Mac with macOS 14 Sonoma or later, Apple silicon or Intel.

Your captures

Where do my captures go?

Into HeySnapMe's Library on your Mac. Save puts a copy on your Desktop, or in a folder you choose, as PNG, JPEG or HEIC. HeySnapMe does not upload captures. Your own cloud or backup software may copy files saved in folders it manages.

I closed a capture. Can I get it back?

Yes. Capture History in the menu bar shows every capture, newest first, and Restore puts it back in the corner. Everything also stays in the Library.

Does HeySnapMe go online?

HeySnapMe connects for sign-in, payment, Mac activation and background verification, and to check for updates. An activated Mac can work offline for up to seven days, capped at trial expiry. Capture checks use the local allowance without waiting for the network. Captures and recordings are not uploaded by HeySnapMe.

Using HeySnapMe

What does it ask permission for?

Screen Recording, because macOS asks before any app can see the screen. The rest is optional and only asked for when you turn it on: Accessibility lets Auto Scroll scroll for you and shows your keystrokes in a recording; the microphone and camera are for recordings.

Can I record my voice and my camera?

Yes. Turn on the microphone or the camera in the record bar, and macOS asks the first time. They use your Mac's default microphone and camera, or the one you pick. Both start off, and so do clicks and keystrokes.

How long can a GIF be?

As long as you like. HeySnapMe records a movie and makes the GIF from it with its own encoder, at the frame rate and width you choose.

How do I update?

HeySnapMe updates itself. Once a day it looks for a new version, downloads it in the background and installs it when you quit. Check for Updates… in its menu, or Check Now in Settings > About, looks at once.
